Father of three, Scotty Morrison (Ngati Whakaue) is the well-known presenter of Maori current affairs programmes Te Karere and Marae Investigates. An experienced screen actor and radio host, he holds a Diploma of Teaching, Bachelor of Education and Masters degree (Education) from Waikato University. He is also currently working towards his PhD at Massey University.
Scotty has been an Adjunct Professor and the Director of Maori Student and Community Engagement at Auckland's Unitec Institute of Technology, where he continues to promote Te Reo Maori through awareness, administration and specialised courses. He is also the author of the bestselling "The Raupo Phrasebook of Modern Maori."
Along with his wife, fellow broadcaster Stacey Morrison, he does consultancy work for shows with Māori content like CODE, Find Me a Māori bride (upcoming) and NZ films such as Deadlands.
A talented sportsman, he represented NZ in the Maori rugby sevens team and NZ schoolboys volleyball and was also a Bay of Plenty rep in rugby, athletics, golf and cricket. So it’s fitting that Scotty's MC experience includes being MC /Host of the Maori Sports Awards.
